Industrial process / equipment technical evaluation; trade effluent management and potable water usage for performance improvement and cost reduction; analytical chemistry; quality / environmental management systems implementation and operation; environmental assessment of industrial activities; technical auditing and interim laboratory management and development.

Background

Early industrial roles in analytical chemistry were concurrent with part-time education to Graduate of Royal Institute (now Society) of Chemistry (Hons. Degree) and an MSc in Instrumental Chemical Analysis. After employment in the gas, chemicals and the plastics / polymers sectors, moved to the relatively new Water Industry. Held several senior posts up to director level in technical and quality management in the laboratories division. In addition, supervised work placements and internal staff who were following MSc and MPhil degrees. Also worked for both the company’s international and operations divisions. With the latter, it included periodic lecturing on the Higher BTEC course for eight years. Moving on, I became a director, with responsibility for quality, for a plc involved with testing. At this company, I also organized and operated an NVQ Centre. Concurrent with this, I was a director, with others, of our own limited company, which specialised in the water and wastewater sectors. During these years, I was a voluntary, trained Business Excellence Assessor for ‘Midland Excellence’.
